Modi Ramps Up Campaign in UP as BJP and Opposition Gear Up for Mega Rallies in Mumbai

Mumbai, India – With more than half of Uttar Pradesh’s 80 Lok Sabha seats up for grabs in the last three phases of the election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is intensifying his campaign across this critical Hindi heartland state. On Friday, Modi will address rallies in Barabanki, Fatehpur, and Hamirpur constituencies, highlighting the BJP’s focus on securing a decisive win in UP.

Following his UP engagements, Modi will head to Mumbai to address a significant rally at Shivaji Park. He will be joined by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CMs Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, MNS chief Raj Thackeray, and Union Minister of State Ramdas Athawale. The BJP is contesting three seats in Mumbai, with Shinde’s Shiv Sena vying for the other three.

Simultaneously, the INDIA bloc and Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) are organizing a mega rally at BKC in Mumbai. Key opposition figures, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, NCP president Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, MPCC president Nana Patole, and Congress Legislature Party leader Balasaheb Thorat, will address the rally, showcasing a united front against the BJP.

Back in Uttar Pradesh, opposition leaders are also stepping up their campaigns. Congress MP Rahul Gandhi and Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav will hold a joint rally at Nandamhar Dham in Jamo block to support Congress candidate Kishori Lal Sharma in Amethi. They will then move to Rae Bareli for another joint public meeting, where Gandhi is contesting. Meanwhile, Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati will rally supporters in Pratapgarh.

On the second day of his visit to Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to hold a security review meeting. This visit, not politically motivated, follows a successful voter turnout for the Srinagar Lok Sabha seat on May 13. Shah will also meet with BJP workers to discuss organizational matters. Additionally, he will be briefed on the security situation in the Union Territory as preparations for the annual Amarnath Yatra, starting on June 29, are underway. Jammu and Kashmir might witness Assembly elections after the Yatra, as per the Supreme Court’s deadline of September 30.

A Bengaluru court granted interim bail to JD(S) MLA and former Karnataka Minister H D Revanna in a sexual harassment case involving a 47-year-old house help. The case will be heard again on Friday. Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) will begin its hearing into allegations against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal’s aide Bibhav Kumar. In Jharkhand, Minister Alamgir Alam was remanded to the Enforcement Directorate’s custody for six days in a money laundering case, with his lawyer asserting no direct involvement of the minister in the alleged crime.
